Fairchild Semiconductor's QTLP603C-EB blue LED is said to offer designers performance and size benefits required by increasingly stringent portable application designs. Its low profile reduces package thickness by 42 percent over previous industry standard LED packaging according to the company. Power consumption is reduced through the product's 3.15V maximum at 5 mA performance, thereby enabling longer battery life. This product is suitable for backlighting keypads and pushbuttons in the latest cell phone, PDA and compact, portable product designs. It is available on a 7" (178 mm) diameter reel with 2,000 units per reel. The price is $.35 in 10,000-piece quantities.
