Agilent Technologies has introduced a series of millimeter-wave ICs in a 5 mm X 5 mm SMT package compatible with automated assembly techniques. This series is said to fill virtually all the active RF requirements of point-to-point and point-to-multipoint microwave links. These applications include IEEE 802.16 broadband wireless access and IEEE 802.20 mobile broadband wireless access, wireless local loop (WLL), multipoint microwave distribution system (MMDS, also known as wireless cable) and other cost-sensitive commercial communications systems operating from 6 GHz to 20 GHz.
