Tyco Electronics has introduced an interconnect that supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications. The Mag45 PoE RJ-45 connector provides the networking industry with a product that scales from 10/100 to 10/100/1000 and includes integrated magnetics and integrated power management silicon. This enables PoE functionality to be embedded within the connector, reducing the cost, footprint and design-cycle time associated with integrating PoE into Ethernet switches. Tyco Electronics' Mag45 connector integrates power management silicon manufactured by PowerDsine into a standard twelve-port RJ-45 connector.
