TI adds 32-bit ARM processors.(Integrated Circuits)

The TMS470 family of 32-bit general-purpose microprocessors from Texas Instruments is designed for developers interested in processors built on the ARM7 core. The ARM7 core includes the Thumb-extension core that accommodates 16-bit code. TI has three chips available now and four more set for introduction later this year. Current devices furnish from 64 KB to 256 KB of Flash memory and from 4 KB to 12 KB of RAM. Peripherals include a 16-channel 10-bit ADC, as well as SPI, SCI, CAN and serial ports. Prices start at $4.95 (1,000). Use of the ARM7 architecture lets designers take advantage of a wealth of code that operates using the same instruction set.
