CWT assists cheese sale to South Korea.

The Cooperatives Working Together program is assisting in the export of 277,000 lb. of cheddar cheese to South Korea. The sale is being made by Dairy Farmers of America.

The export bonus, which helps subsidize the sale to compete with lower world prices, will be paid to DFA once the shipment is verified, says Chris Galen, a spokesperson for the National Milk Producers Federation, which manages the CWT program. CWT is funded by a 5cents/cwt assessment on milk. More than 70% of the nation's milk supply is enrolled in the program.

This is the first CWT-assisted sale since August, and the fourth such sale to South Korea. CWT has assisted in the sale of 9.5 million lb. cheese since it began operations two years ago. ...
