Construction on new Hilmar Cheese plant in Texas progresses on schedule.

A year after it announced plans to build a new cheese processing plant in Dalhart, Texas, Hilmar Cheese Company says it’s right on schedule for a fall 2007 completion date.

Significant progress has been made since groundbreaking ceremonies in March, Hilmar Cheese reported today. The plant’s walls have been built, floors have been poured, and the roof structure has been lifted into place.

Equipment has been arriving on the 40-acre site, and construction is now focusing on building the whey-processing facility.

“The entire Panhandle is supportive of the project, and construction continues at a rapid pace,” says plant site manager, David Ahlem.
