Slow going for Rx drugs.(prescription drugs)(Brief Article)

It's going to start taking longer to push new prescription drugs through the Food and Drug Administration. The FDA won't make formal changes to its approval process, but in the aftermath of the successful lawsuit against Merck over Vioxx and trouble with similar painkillers, closer scrutiny is a given.
There also will be stepped-up monitoring of drugs once they hit the market, which is where the breakdown came with Vioxx when early signs of trouble were brushed off.
