Australian Banking & Finance Magazine's list of Australia's most prominent and influential banking executives again features the foremost personalities from the majors, plus leaders of the most successful regional banks, investment banks and international banks. The past year has seen changes, retirements and 'movements'. We welcome some new names to list--including Arthur Sinodinos--and have been fascinated by some of the games of musical chairs which have played out and seen faces like Gail Kelly take up--or, in Nicholas Moore's case, about to take up--new positions. Greg Bartlett Group Executive, Institutional and Business Banking, St. George Bank
Greg Bartlett was appointed as St. George Bank's group executive institutional and business banking in 1999 after roles as group treasurer and chief general manager, group treasury and capital markets.
He has been a member of the bank's executive management committee for seventeen years and has more than three decades of experience in the financial services industry.

Kim Burke Executive Director and Head of Equity Markets Group, Macquarie Bank
Kim Burke has overall global responsibility for Macquarie Bank's equity markets group (EMG) activities, including origination and distribution of equity linked investment and risk management products for retail and wholesale investors globally; market making and principal trading in equities and equity derivatives; stock borrowing and lending and structured equity finance; as well as the bank's hedge fund business. Mr Burke joined the bank in the financial markets group in 1991. He joined the equity structured products division in 1992 and was promoted to associate director in 1994, division director in 1995 and executive director in 1997. In 1998 Mr Burke established EMG's South African business, in conjunction with Standard Bank of South Africa.
Michael Cameron Chief Financial Officer, Group Executive Finance, Risk & Strategy, St. George Bank
Michael Cameron B.Bus FCA FCPA FAICD joined the St. George Group in July 2007 as Chief Financial Officer and Group Executive for Finance, Risk and Strategy. Prior to this Mr Cameron was with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. He has extensive experience in the Finance Sector, having previously been the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of the Wealth Management Division (including MLC) of the National Australia Bank, and Chief Financial Officer of MLC when part of Lend Lease. Prior to this he held a number of senior finance roles in Australia and the US with Lend Lease, Barclays Bank Australia and TNT Australia.
Michael Carapiet Global Joint Head, Macquarie Capital Advisers (Head of Macquarie Capital, effective May 24, 2008), Macquarie Bank
Michael Carapiet is an executive director, executive committee member and joint head of Macquarie Bank's corporate finance businesses. He first joined Macquarie Bank in 1985 and has worked in the investment banking group since 1989. Macquarie has the largest corporate finance team in Australia and New Zealand, with almost 1,300 executives in 31 offices across 23 countries including the UK, Germany, France, Austria, US, Canada, UAE, South Africa and all major Asian markets.

David Cartwright Group Managing Director, Operations, Technology and Shared Services (OTSS), ANZ Banking Group
In this role, he manages the core support division of ANZ.
Before joining ANZ, David was Chief Executive Officer of Intelligent Processing Solutions Limited (iPSL). iPSL is a joint venture created by Unisys, Lloyds TSB Bank, Barclays and HSBC that provides some 70% of cheque processing services in the United Kingdom.
Prior to this, David had a 22-year career in operations and technology at Barclays PLC. His roles at Barclays included Director, Operations and Client Experience, Private Clients and International; Managing Director, Service Delivery; and Managing Director, Barclays Technology Services.
Barbara Chapman Group Executive, Human Resources and Group Services, Commonwealth Bank
Barbara Chapman joined the Commonwealth Bank in July 2006. Her role of group executive, human resources and group services, is responsible for the group's human resources and marketing and communications functions. Chapman began her career with the group in 1994 as chief manager marketing in the New Zealand subsidiary, ASB, and was internally promoted to a newly created role of general manager marketing and human resources in 2000. In 2001 she was appointed as ASB's head of retail banking and marketing. In 2004 Chapman moved into the role of managing director and chief executive officer of Sovereign Assurance, the group's New Zealand life insurance business.
