Qualcomm to offer service for small fleets.

Qualcomm Inc has announced plans for a new service to be called 'TruckMail.' It is a mobile communication system for trucking fleets with less than 100 units which use traditional manual dispatching methods. TruckMail will allow the transmission of text messages between drivers and terminal and for fleets to monitor trucks. Qualcomm will charge between $2,500 and $2,900 for the on-board hardware and $2,500 for the TruckMail software. An additional $50 will be charged monthly for the transmission of $18,000 characters of data.
