THREATENED miscarriage in the first trimester increases the risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes such as malpresentation and preterm delivery in the same pregnancy, a study has found.

Women who sought hospital assessment for vaginal bleeding before 12 weeks' gestation had a 56% increase in preterm delivery, a 26% increase in malpresentation and an 83% increase in antepartum haemorrhage of unknown origin.
