EDITOR Have you considered how you want to die? Despite advances in medicine, death remains inevitable. Most businesses recognise the benefits of forward planning, and considering our own death is an important task. Society, in its desire to postpone death, is failing to realise death is also a part of life.

As a doctor who has been caring for nursing home patients for more than 10 years, has a demented mother languishing in a home, and has mourned the loss of a young friend in a motor vehicle accident, I suggest this with respect and in all sincerity.
