DOCTORS should be vaccinated annually against influenza as part of their duty of care, according to immunisation experts who warn rates among health care workers must increase.

In a newly released discussion paper, Australia's Influenza Specialist Group (ISG) has compiled various strategies to meet the NHMRC recommendation of annual influenza vaccination for all health care providers.

The group wants to see annual immunisation rates among health care workers raised from what is anecdotally believed to be 20%-50% to 75% in the next five years.
