AN attempt to ease the pressure on one of Australia's busiest emergency departments by opening a co-located after-hours clinic is failing because the hospital cannot find GPs to staff it.
For the past four months Sunshine Hospital in Melbourne has advertised 10 VR GP positions at the clinic.
Hospital chief executive Mr Jon Evans said two doctors had inquired about the vacancies but the hospital was struggling to fill the places because of the critical shortage of GPs in Melbourne's west.
