BMJ Doctors who volunteer their services in overseas emergencies and operate outside registered aid organisations can potentially do more harm than good, two UK physicians argue.
Writing in the BMJ , the pair, who provided their services in Pakistan after last year's devastating earthquake, expressed concern about the overseas doctors not attached to recognised aid organisations who flooded into the area.
'There were numerous foreign doctors operating makeshift clinics in camps for the survivors,' they wrote of their experience.
