PHYSIOTHERAPISTS have called on the Federal Government to give them the same specialist referral rights as GPs and to expand their access to MBS rebates in next year's budget, claiming the changes would improve economic efficiency in health.

In a budget submission released last week, the Australian Physiotherapy Association said patients referred by physiotherapists to specialists should be eligible to claim the same MBS rebate that applies for a GP referral.
