ONLY one month to go in the Sharewatch Game and the traditional October jitters have had a marked effect on the sharemarket, with all players' portfolios falling -- some heavily.

The resources sector, which had clawed back lost ground in the previous month, was savaged, with the majors the most heavily affected.

The falls resulted in only three portfolios ending the month in the black over their initial outlay of $10,000, with all the others in the red.
