MORE than 500 international medical graduates (IMGs) not currently practising medicine in Australia are being pulled back into the workforce with the support of a $1 million RACGP project in a bid to ease chronic workforce shortages.

The Permanent Resident Overseas Trained Doctors program was developed by the college last year in response to concerns over the lack of support available to IMGs living in Australia to pass the Australian Medical Council exam.
