PRACTICE managers are being urged to check the small print of doctors' contracts, after fears practices could be hit by huge tax demands in the wake of an investigation into Mayne.
The NSW Office of State Revenue has told Mayne its doctors are classed as "contractors working for solely or mainly a single employer"-- a definition that makes the company liable for payroll tax and facing a $1 million bill.
Mayne plans to appeal the decision in the NSW Supreme Court.
