MAYBE IT'S NOT JUSTTHE APPLE

Does an apple a day keep the oncologist away? It seems it does, but probably as a marker of a cancer-protective diet. An Italian study has shown people who ate one or more apples a day were at lower risk of cancers of the mouth and pharynx (21% reduction), oesophagus (25%), colorectum (42%), larynx (24%), breast (18%), ovary (15%) and prostate (9%) (Annals of Oncology 2005; 16:1841-44).
