AUSTRALIAN GPs are being recruited for the world's largest study of the diagnosis and treatment of depression and suicide in the elderly in general practice.
The study, which will recruit 80,000 patients aged 60 or older and their GPs across five states, will investigate whether a simple intervention can reduce the rate of geriatric depression and self-harm.
