JAMA Clinical trials terminated early because of benefit attract a blaze of publicity and hyperbole, but often overstate the benefits and underestimate the risks, experts say.

A review of more than 140 such trials highlighted elements such as incomplete sample sizes, inadequate explanations for early termination and implausibly large treatment benefits -- often for drug interventions.
