COX-2 inhibitor Mobic will not carry a boxed warning on cardiovascular safety after the drug's manufacturer reached agreement with Australian regulators to tone down the warning imposed earlier this year.

The out-of-court settlement meant the company's legal action against the Federal Health Department would not now proceed, said Boehringer Ingelheim's managing director, Mr John Dixon.

The move leaves Pfizer's Celebrex (celecoxib) as the only NSAID on the Australian market to carry the boxed warning about cardiovascular safety imposed by the Therapeutic ...
