Cruciferous vegetables provide cancer protection in some.

LANCET New research has advanced the understanding of the genetic link between diet and cancer, with a finding that cruciferous vegetables can reduce the risk of lung cancer in some people by more than 70%.

Writing in the Lancet (29 October), researchers said the protective effect only occurred in those who lacked the enzymes required to metabolise chemoprotective agents found in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and cabbage.
