PAIN and distress experienced by children undergoing medical procedures is poorly dealt with despite advances in management techniques, experts from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians say.

In response the RACP has released two sets of pain management guidelines - one for neonates and one for children and adolescents - recommending a combination of pharmacological measures and behavioural techniques.
