IRELAND As more countries go smoke-free, Ireland- which banned smoking in pubs in 2004 - can be looked at for information on the health benefits of a smoking ban. A study by the Research Institute for a Tobacco Free Society in Dublin shows that since the ban, bar workers' lung function has improved 'dramatically' and there has been an 83% reduction in air pollution in pubs, the BBC reports. But Simon Clark, director of smokers' lobby group Forest, said the study, which relied on self-reporting, could not be taken seriously. ...
