PRACTICE goodwill is not what it used to be. There was a time when older GPs could be confident as they neared retirement that a younger GP would come, pay a reasonable amount for goodwill, and take over the practice.

Those days are gone. These days we know of cases where good practices are almost given away. Goodwill values are chronically low on GP-to-GP purchases, which is good news for younger GP buyers but it's broken the hearts of many older GPs.
