NEJM Uterine artery embolisation offers women with symptomatic uterine fibroids a faster recovery than conventional surgery, but almost one in 10 need further treatment, a randomised trial finds.

In patients with symptomatic uterine fibroids, researchers compared 106 women treated using uterine-artery embolisation with 51 patients who had surgery -- 43 had hysterectomies and eight had myomectomies.
