I LOST my dad last October. As well as a parent, I lost an extraordinary individual who achieved much, gave more, asked for little in return, and was one of the most unassuming men I have ever met.

Here was a man who:

* Grew up in humble surroundings.

* Won a mathematics scholarship to Brisbane Grammar School.
