FUNDING TO HELP LYMPHOEDEMA PATIENTS

GPs will benefit from the Federal Government's decision to provide $500,000 in funding to the National Breast Cancer Centre for initiatives to help lymphoedema patients after treatment. The funding will allow the centre to produce clinical guidelines on managing lymphoedema for GPs and their patients. It will also fund a series of workshops for GPs and other primary health care staff on managing the condition. There are currently no lymphoedema guides in Australia for the public or health professionals.
