Support is needed if the wave of new medical students is to alleviate the doctor shortage.

THE issue of increasing medical student numbers, along with its many and varied sequelae, has recently received some attention in the media. As president of the Australian Medical Students' Association, the peak representative body for all medical students within Australia, I welcome this attention and the vital debate it creates.
