Pathologist warns of drug reporting risk.

MJA GPs risk making treatment errors as a result of variations in the reporting of drug levels, warns a chemical pathologist who is calling for standardised reporting.

Writing in the Medical Journal of Australia (16 April), Dr Graham Jones, pathologist at St Vincent's Hospital in Sydney, said differences in how laboratories reported serum therapeutic drug concentrations - using molar or mass units for the same class of drug - raised the possibility of drug overdose and medical error.
