BMJ A highly sensitive clinical tool for diagnosing coeliac disease should improve the condition's low detection rates, a large prospective study finds.
The clinical tool combined stratifying patients into high-risk and low-risk groups according to symptoms with transglutaminase antibody serology and -- when needed -- duodenal biopsy.
UK researchers evaluated the tool prospectively on 2000 adult patients and found it could detect all cases of coeliac disease without biopsying every symptomatic patient.
