EIGHT months after the tragic killing of Dr Khulod Maarouf-Hassan at her practice in NoblePark, Melbourne, almost one-quarter of practices in her area may not have a strategy in place to deal with patients' unwanted behaviour.

The results have still to be fully analysed, but according to preliminary results of a survey by the Dandenong Division of General Practice, almost one-quarter of the 190 practice staff surveyed -- including 91 GPs -- feel unsafe when working alone.
