MARATHONS BRING CARDIAC RISK
In 490BC the messenger sent to Athens to announce that Marathon had been saved from the Persians reportedly dropped dead on arrival, and Empiricus is not at all surprised. Modern runners do it for fun, apparently, but the 42km race still carries risks. Participants in a Boston marathon had their cardiac troponin levels measured once they staggered across the finish line.
