JAMA A new cardiovascular risk-assessment tool developed for women could change preventive management for up to half of female patients, a study finds.

By adding high-sensitivity C-reactive protein and parental history of MI before the age of 60 to traditional cardiovascular risk factors, researchers more accurately predicted the 10-year cardiovascular risk in women.

They followed 25,000 postmenopausal women in the Women's Health Study for an average of 10 years and looked at the incidence of stroke and coronary heart disease.
