Experts urge caution on breast cancer MRI initiative.

FEDERAL Health Minister Mr Tony Abbott has endorsed a recommendation to fund MRI screening for women at high risk of breast cancer.

But experts have urged caution over the initiative, which they said must be rolled out with appropriate surveillance and protocols.

Mr Abbott last month endorsed the Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC) recommendation for interim public funding of MRI for high-risk asymptomatic women as part of an organised surveillance program.
