THE medical profession has won its fight against the proposed single national registration board for all health professionals.

The Council of Australian Governments has dumped the controversial single board proposal announced in December last year, after intensive lobbying by medical organisations including the AMA and RACGP.

The new national registration model agreed to by COAG this month includes separate boards for each of nine health professions.
