A WRITER had submitted a manuscript to a publisher and was anxiously waiting for a reply. Finally, the letter arrived. The writer tore it open and started reading. The letter went as follows:

Dear Mr Dostoevsky,

Thank you for submitting your novel for publication. While we quite liked the story, we felt it was too long, by about one-third, and needs to be edited down. As such, we are returning your draft of Crime, Punishment and Redemption.
