Immunomics hope for prostate test.

NEJMThe exquisite sensitivity of the human immune system has inspired a new approach to testing for prostate cancer that may one day replace the PSA test.

Researchers have identified an Cyautoantibody signature' for prostate cancer, consisting of 22 human antibodies, according to a paper in the New England Journal of Medicine (22 September).

The blood test, with 88.2% specificity and 81.6% sensitivity, outperformed the PSA test when tested on 129 serum samples from men with prostate cancer and controls.
