PILL PROTECTS AGAINST MS

ORAL contraceptives appear to reduce the risk of multiple sclerosis by as much as 40%, according to research.

A study that compared 106 women with the disease with more than 1000 healthy controls also found pregnancy appeared to have a small protective effect against the disease.

Researchers suggested high levels of exogenous oestrogens from oral contraceptives, and of endogenous oestrogens during pregnancy, might delay the onset of MS.
