Pharmacists fail to deliver on CMI.

THE Federal Government is planning to change the way pharmacists deliver Consumer Medicines Information, after complaints that patients are not getting sufficient information about their drugs.

Pharmacists register to receive 10Ao per PBS script for agreeing to distribute CMI leaflets. However, a Pharmacy Guild review earlier this year found they were only providing the leaflets with 12% of claimable scripts, despite 93% of consumers saying they were important.

About 60-70% of pharmacies claim the allowance, according to the Pharmacy Guild.
