TWO medical indemnity insurers have denied that overseas-trained doctors pose a higher indemnity risk -- despite their industry association suggesting measures such as premium loadings or supervisory requirements could be applied to some OTDs.

The Medical Indemnity Industry Association of Australia (MIIAA), in a submission to the Productivity Commission's medical workforce inquiry, called for medical boards to adopt a rigorous national assessment of the qualifications of all doctors, including OTDs.
