Collaboratives off to promising start.

THE $14.6 million national collaboratives program is on track to achieve a dramatic improvement in patient outcomes, based on figures from the first five months of the program.

More than 170 practices, covering 948 full-time-equivalent GPs, were given best practice information on diabetes, coronary heart disease (CHD) and patient access. Doctors were then encouraged to share strategies for meeting a series of clinical targets, and the results appear to be impressive.
