Osteopaenia to blame in many low-trauma breaks.

AUSTRALIAN researchers have found more than half of all low-trauma fractures occur in older women with osteo-paenia and not osteoporosis.

A study of fracture incidence among women aged over 60 showed 56% of low-trauma fractures occurred in women with osteopaenia, 27% occurred in those with osteoporosis, and 17% occurred in women with normal bone mineral density.
