THIS lion cub may only be a baby, but that doesn't mean it can't pack a punch -- or in Dr Howard McCormick's case a scratch.

Dr McCormick cuddled the seven-month-old cub at a lion park near Sun City in South Africa.

However, although the cub was playful "like a kitten", the GP from Cowes, Victoria, was reminded it was still a wild animal when it scratched him and made "quite an impression".
