DEALING with the emotional demands of patients is the greatest barrier to a balanced work and family life for GPs, topping even the burden of after hours and weekend work.

An Australian Doctor poll of GPs' attitudes to work/family balance shows that half of GPs feel they spend too much time at work and too little at home.
