RENAL failure should be added to the list of adverse consequences of obesity, researchers say, after finding a link between BMI and the risk of end-stage renal disease.
A study found people with a BMI greater than 30 were three times more likely to develop end-stage renal disease than people with normal BMI, while those with a BMI equal to or greater than 40 had a sevenfold increase in risk.
