NEJM Two rotavirus vaccines could soon be available for Australian infants after the largest trials in clinical history found them safe and effective for cutting hospitalisations for diarrhoeal disease.

More than 130,000 children took part in the two trials of Merck's Rotateq and GlaxoSmithKline's Rotarix vaccines, which are both seeking approval for use in Australia.
