Impotence drug shows promise as Raynaud's treatment.

A DRUG for impotence may also help improve perfusion to the hands and alleviate symptoms of Raynaud's disease, early research suggests.

In a study of 40 patients with both primary and secondary disease, a twice-daily dose of 10mg of vardenafil (Levitra) significantly improved digital blood flow and reduced clinical symptoms in about 70% of patients.

The effect on digital blood flow was determined by laser-Doppler imaging and a cold-exposure test within one hour of the first dose and after two weeks of continuous treatment.
