HOPES of a national electronic health record system existing in the professional lifetime of most GPs have been dashed, with yet another revision of the HealthConnect strategy set to extend the project time frame by a further 10-20 years.

Last week the Federal Government announced it would dismantle the existing e-Health Implementation Group and re-brand HealthConnect as a "health market change-management strategy"-- but didn't provide a clear definition of what this would entail.
